Acupuncture
What is Acupuncture?
The origins of acupuncture can be traced back over 2000 years, making it one of the oldest health care systems in the world. Today acupuncture supports the treatment of a wide number of conditions, focussing on drug free relief of symptoms.

Our bodies have energy pathways or meridians. Acupuncture needles are inserted at specific points along the pathway to clear energy blockages and encourage the normal flow of Qi or energy through the body. Points used are chosen according to your specific diagnosis. Patients often report that once the needles are in they feel a sense of deep relaxation.

Benefits of Acupuncture
Acupuncture takes an holistic approach to medicine. We look to the underlying cause of the condition as well as the symptoms a patient is experiencing. Thus in our world the mind, body and spirit/ emotions are all connected.

We believe acupuncture promotes healing by sending a small electrical prompt to the body to restore balance and alignment. In releasing blocked Qi energy, acupuncture promotes health and organ function. It may improve circulation, decrease pain and reduce inflammation.

In 2017 the Acupuncture Evidence Project published a review of evidence supporting the efficacy of acupuncture for 122 conditions. It found evidence of effect for 117 of them, most notably allergic rhinitis, knee osteoarthritis, chemotherapy induced nausea, migraine, lower back pain, headache, neck pain, peri and post menopausal symptoms, anxiety and IBS.
